The Town of Hingham’s contractor will begin work in the early morning hours of July 22nd, to proceed with construction of the Public Safety Facility parking garage, located at 335 Lincoln Street. Due to the heat of the sun, the reinforcement and post-tensioning steel, which are part of the concrete beams supporting the upper level of the garage, experience thermal expansion and contraction. To avoid this condition happening while the concrete is curing, it is necessary to make the concrete pour when the steel is at its lowest temperature. Work at the Public Safety Facility may begin as early as 4:00 AM in preparation for a 5:00 AM concrete pour.
