Town Administrator Tom Mayo is pleased to share that the Town of Hingham has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its fiscal year 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by the Town of Hingham. This is the 27th consecutive year that the Town has earned this distinction.
The award recognizes municipalities that meet or exceed national standards for financial reporting. These standards include demonstrating a spirit of full disclosure and motivating potential users to read the ACFR.
The Town's application was reviewed by an impartial panel of members from government, the public accounting profession, and individuals with specialized expertise in government financial reporting.
The Town wishes to give special recognition to Town Accountant Susan Nickerson for her major contributions in helping the Town win this award numerous times.
“We are grateful to be recognized by the GFOA for this national honor,” said Town Administrator Mayo. “This award is the result of the teamwork and dedication of our entire finance team. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Sue for her extraordinary leadership in support of the town’s financial reporting and fiscal health.”
The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare comprehensive financial reports that are transparent and offer full disclosure while recognizing individual governments that achieve this goal.
