[ARCHIVED] CPC Public Information Session Aug 25th

Community Preservation Committee

Public Information Session

August 25

How are your CPC tax dollars being spent?

One and a half cents out of every dollar you pay in real estate taxes goes to Hingham’s Community Preservation Fund. It adds up. Last year the town had well over $1 million to spend on community preservation projects. And that didn’t include what the state kicks in — several hundred thousand more.

How does the money get spent? Who makes the final decision?

You do, by voting at Town Meeting every year. Hingham’s Community Preservation Committee will explain how that works — and more — when it holds a public information session and hearing on Wednesday, August 25, at 7 pm. The meeting will take place on Zoom so that vacationers who are away will be able to attend.

The nine committee members will introduce themselves, explain how they were chosen to serve, and walk the public through the kinds of projects that are eligible for CPC money.

The committee will entertain questions from the public on the process and also listen to general ideas (rather than ideas for specific projects) about how to put Hingham’s CPC money to best use. Info to connect to meeting below.

Remote meeting via Zoom:

Dial-in number: 929-205-6099

Meeting ID: 882 5643 6577

Passcode:  802063
